B.A.B.E.S.
is a 501c(3), (fully tax deductible) non profit
corporation incorporated March 12, 1997. The first
program site was in Appleton and located in a local flower
shop. Today, these innovative services are provided as a
stress alleviation tool for young parents in a facility with
over 12,000 sq. ft. in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Our youngest
parent in Northeast Wisconsin to receive support in 1997 was 14. The youngest child to
receive care was one week old. The agency is the only
no-cost, 7 hour respite care provider in Northeast
Wisconsin.
In 2003, the
Founder established a second site in New London,
B.A.B.E.S. really helps!
| The existence of
B.A.B.E.S., Inc. reduces situations that can sometime result in child abuse and provides a positive impact on the "quality of life" for children and
parents through: |
- Respite,
defined as an interval of relief or rest. B.A.B.E.S.
provides this service for parents up to the age
of 25. Respite serves as a tool for the
prevention of child abuse, the stabilization of
families and the creation of a healthy, safe environment.
- B.A.B.E.S.
Thinking Cap, academic enrichment and support program designed to assist in the elimination of
one of the “risk “ factors contributing to unplanned pregnancy among adolescents. This academic component is effective in increasing educational
success for children who may be considered "youth at risk".
- Just
for Dads Club, a support group focused on the
concerns of young fathers. The group meets
twice a month.
- M.A.P.S.
(Mothers
Accessing Parenting Skills), the parent education tool
B.A.B.E.S.
uses along with its counseling partner, Fox
Valley Pastoral Counseling Services, to provide
education and fun, family oriented activities for
English speaking parents.

- Between 35%-40% of abused children come from "middle class", median income homes.
- 15% of all births in Outagamie County were born to mothers under the age of 18 (2002).
- 2% of households in New London are single parent
families.

risk factors impacting the quality of life for their
children, and the stability of their family B.A.B.E.S.
programs are provided regardless of political or
religious affiliations, financial status, or
ethnicity. B.A.B.E.S. strives to achieve
family stability by encouraging self-respect, self-reliance
and self-control. |
